The Local Legends Program is a hands-on, community-focused work experience initiative designed to bridge the gap between school and employment for young adults with disabilities. Instead of sitting in a classroom learning about jobs, you’ll gain real-world experience by participating in meaningful community projects. You’ll build skills, confidence, and connections—all while making a real impact!

After applying, you’ll have a casual interview where we get to know you and determine if we’re the right fit.

The program is for young adults with an NDIS plan who are self-managed or plan-managed and have funding under: "Finding and Keeping a Job" OR "School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES)".

The program is run by Nepean Care Services, which manages your invoices, support workers, and daily support throughout the program. Wollondilly Council has partnered with us to provide:

No. This is a work-readiness program, not a direct employment program. Our goal is to prepare you for future job applications by providing the right environment to build the skills you need for success.

We focus on:

✅ Building all essential employment skills (social skills, teamwork, time management, etc.)
✅ Helping you gain confidence to apply for jobs
✅ Expanding your network with local businesses to increase your chances of employment

We truly believe this program significantly improves your chances of finding paid work—but like anything in the real world, you will have to put in the effort to make it work.

Yes! In fact, we only offer 1:1 support.

Our program is hyper-focused on helping you develop the skills you need to gain paid employment. That’s why we allocate you your own support worker, ensuring the skills most relevant to you are taught efficiently and in a way that works best for you.
While you’ll have opportunities to work as part of a team with other young adults, your support worker will always be there to guide you, support you, and have your back every step of the way!
